Family Fun Utah!
One of our favorite family fun Utah trips is to Moab. We’ve camped there a number of times, but I think our best experience came when we camped in the lower La Sal mountains. The surrounding trees provided shade and protection – though we heard a fair amount of cow talk during the night (from a nearby herd). Camping
in Moab
is also available on the Sand Flats (though arrive early during high season – late spring and early fall – because those fill up quickly) and at various places along the Colorado River.
Arches National Park is just west of Moab – and it provides some wonderful family fun Utah hiking experiences. We first took our kiddos there when they were quite young, and although they couldn’t hike far, they enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Other
good hiking trails
can be found in Canyonlands State Park and throughout the La Sals.
Moab is most famous for its mountain biking – chances are you’ve heard of this family outdoor recreation. My husband travels to Moab specifically to mountain bike at least once a year (and usually twice – once in the spring and once in the fall). Check out our Moab Mountain Biking page (coming soon) for a list of some of the best trails to try.
Utah holds many family fun destinations – and we’ve explored only a few of them. Zion and Bryce are two of the other
national parks
which offer some neat family recreation activities. Both offer hiking trails, though Zion also has a nice bus tour which allows families with younger kids to travel through the park and see the main sights. As your kids get older, some of the Zion hikes are spectacular and allow kids to climb, wade, and view many unique natural wonders.
