I'm a blogger, as well, and I started blogging about books two years ago. I keep count of all the books I read throughout the year, and I 'review' them (you can see the review system on each book blog). I just posted my mid-year favorites list for 2010. I've been enjoying some dystopic (otherwise known as science fiction) novels lately -- one, Lies, by Michael Grant, is the third in a series. The other, The Gardener, by S.A. Bodeen, is a stand-alone with a fascinating premise. Both are wonderful reads with intriguing scientific ideas and great tension.

This time of year tends to be quite busy. How can we keep our family active together in the midst of it all? Well, family reading is always a quick and easy place to start. I've recently added some sequels here to some enjoyable young adult urban fantasies (Melissa Marr, Aprilynne Pike, and Alyson Noel). Also, don't forget the joys of family photography -- I discovered a new site for digital cameras. The best news about May is that summer family camping is right around the corner!

I enjoy taking photographs so much that I can't resist adding some here for sale, just in case anyone is interested. I also added another young adult novel -- a paranormal historical this time. I'm hoping to add a couple more books in the next few weeks...since I've been writing for years now, I have a collection. Most of all, I hope the books and the photos inspire others to go out with their families and find their own treasures in nature -- and write down some of their adventures, both real and imagined.

We have a whole new page now! Yay! Family writing is fun and memory-building. I hope you can find ways to make it your own and enjoy it together, as well. Along with that, I have a Family Fun Products page beginning to take shape. So far, there's only one PDF book available, but I'm planning to add some photographs and more PDF books, just in case some one out there is interested. All in all, it's been a fun journey, and I look forward to continuing!

I just finished two great fantasies, Brightly Woven and Shadow -- along with a nice science fiction (The Line) found here. Soon, I'm going to be adding a new category to our family fun -- writing! I love to write, and it seems to have passed on to both our kiddos. There are many activities which can be enhanced by forms of writing -- and I'm going to offer a couple of my own books for sale (in pdf form) for any who are interested. Stay tuned -- should be in place by the end of March :)

I enjoy finding good tween books in my roaming through the young adult sections at the library and the bookstore. Funny, strong, thoughtful characters always draw my attention, and it's nice to see that there are great books out there for tween boys and girls.

I've been reading a ton of new books, lately, and man, it's exciting how many great stories are available these days! From a girl suffering from anorexia to a Chinese-American girl trying to find her way to a great mystery to a thoughtful boy-centered tale to a recent (and very charming) middle grade -- some wonderful reading to be enjoyed out there!

One nice thing about winter break is the chance to do a ton of reading! I finished a number of books, including two tween selections, one for girls and one for boys. More coming later this week!

As with most families, our December has kept us quite busy. After returning from California and Arizona near the beginning of the month, now we're off to Oklahoma for another family trip. While in the car, we use modified day activities to keep the kiddos busy and entertained. We have bags with books, various writing/coloring utensils, crafts, etc. within easy reach -- along with snacks, of course. In January, I plan to add some pages on Arizona and Southern California -- and we'll be off and running again for the new year!

I love when I discover new tween books -- especially tween boy books! Alibi Junior High is a great read, filled with adventure, discovery, and growth. And Cody, the main character, has an interesting sense of humor, to boot.

We spent 36 hours in the car last week as we traveled from state to state (visiting my family and my husband's). I don't have a family travel page -- yet! But we used many of the family day activities as ideas to keep the kiddos occupied during the long hours in the car. I've enjoyed two good tween books this week -- a mystery and a book with a cool time-travel twist. Both are well-written and entertaining!
